At 9:30 last night Kristi started having very painful contractions that came around every 2 or 3 minutes and were lasting about 30 seconds each. She was really trying hard not to get her hopes up and she just toughed out the contractions with a lot of help from her amazing husband. Finally at around 11:30, after the advice of future grandma Mcarthur who just happened to be working at the hospital last night, we went into the hospital to hopefully get things going. Kristi's mom examined her and although the contractions continued with more and more pain, she was not progressing because the baby was in a posterior position and not putting much pressure on the cervix, only on the back to the delight of Kristi. So at 2:00 a.m. they gave her a shot of morphine for the pain and sent us home to get some sleep. While at home the contractions continued, not allowing Kristi to sleep well even though I slept through them fine, and finally at 5:00 a.m. we decided to go back to the hospital and stay for the long haul. Since then Kristi has progressed nicely and everything is looking good. Kristi got her epidural at 7:30 and has been super happy ever since. "It's the greatest thing ever!" she says. We'll update again when Marina is finally out.
